Who Are We?

The Higher School of Applied Sciences and Management – SESAME University – is a private higher education institution accredited by the Tunisian State (Ministry of Higher Education) and located within the Elgazala Technopark. SESAME University is both an engineering school and a business school. Building on its successful experience in continuing education, it launched its Engineering Program in Computer Science in 2011, followed in 2012–2013 by an integrated preparatory program for engineering studies, applied bachelor’s degrees in computer science, and management programs (applied bachelor’s degrees and professional master’s degrees). The university chose to embrace this dual specialization to distinguish itself from other engineering schools in Tunisia, as ICT and Management are today the pillars of the information society. Being located inside the Elgazala Technopark offers SESAME University close proximity to nearly a hundred ICT companies, including subsidiaries of major international groups. This environment creates strong synergies between education and industry, providing tremendous benefits to SESAME students and immersing them in a sector that shapes the world of today. The originality of SESAME University’s educational approach lies in its motto: “Innovate to Educate Better.” This motto reflects the modern vision that innovation—recognized as the driving force of progress—not only concerns companies but is also essential for universities seeking to compete both nationally and internationally. SESAME is both an engineering school specializing in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and a management school. It has chosen this dual specialization—and thus distinguished itself from other engineering schools in Tunisia—because it believes that ICT and management are the pillars of the information society. To achieve its educational vision, SESAME has adopted the principle “innovating to educate better.” Innovation takes place on three levels: the academic offering, the teaching approach, and the technological environment.

At the level of academic programs, SESAME offers two major tracks: Computer Science and Management. Each of these branches includes several specializations across engineering, bachelor’s, and master’s programs, such as Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Distribution and Trade Marketing, and Logistics, Procurement and International Trade.

From a pedagogical perspective, SESAME provides training programs that prioritize teamwork, initiative, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum also integrates cross-disciplinary activities in which students play an active role, giving free rein to their imagination, creativity, and sense of initiative. Projects and internships built into the curriculum allow students to fully immerse themselves in the professional world.

On the technological side, SESAME relies on a high-tech learning environment: a modern building equipped with the latest technologies, high-speed connectivity, and fibre-optic Internet access. The university also offers a next-generation IT platform using the most advanced concepts in virtualization and cloud computing. This ensures that students become familiar with the systems and tools toward which companies are increasingly migrating.

Drawing on the extensive experience of its leadership team, faculty members, industry experts, and the significant resources it deploys, SESAME also aims to support professionals throughout their active careers. To this end, the university offers continuing education programs, certifications, and seminars that enable professionals to stay aligned with developments in their respective fields and to adopt the latest technical and technological advancements.

In addition to its permanent faculty in both Computer Science and Management, SESAME relies on a network of highly qualified Tunisian university instructors and industry professionals. The university also collaborates with professors from prestigious international institutions such as CNAM Paris, Télécom SudParis (Évry), Télécom Business School (Évry), the International School of Information Processing Sciences (EISTI – Paris), and Edinburgh Napier University (UK).
